The Moulton Reservoir ski trails are set in dense lodgepole forest with short traverses through open meadows. The terrain consists of undulating hills with either challenging climbs or easy cruises, depending on trail selection. The trails are on the narrow side, which makes for a cozy ski experience and lends itself well to classic style XC skiing. Please be advised that the trails are accessed through a shared access road about 0.6 miles (0.9 km) long, so you may see snowmobiles or other vehicles for a bit.

The Moulton trailhead is located approximately 10 miles north of Butte on Moulton Reservoir Road.

Dogs are welcome! This is a very popular local area for skiers with dogs.

Skiing is free, but donations to Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation (MHNSEF) are appreciated.

Trails are located on Beaverhead-Deer Lodge National Forest.

Be aware that there are sections of private land near the trails. Please be respectful of the private land owners.
